ADI Part 2

ADI Part 2Once you have passed ADI Part 1, you can then move on to the practical parts for the remainder of the course.

Your ADI part 2 training will be structured to help you become a safe, advanced driver. Our grade 6 driving instructors will teach you to improve your driving so that it is at a consistently high standard.

The ADI part 2 test is broken down into three main parts. Firstly the examiner will check your eyesight. To do this he or she will ask you to read a number plate from 26.5 metres (for old style number plates) or 27.5 metres (for the new style). You will then be asked some "show me, tell me" questions similar to those asked on a standard driving test. The next part of the test is the actual drive.

The drive lasts for approximately an hour, during which time you will be asked to drive on a wide range of road types and conditions. The standard of driving expected is far higher than that of a standard driving test, but all you need to do is relax and confidently enjoy the drive.

The ADI Part 2 training which we provide is designed to put you at ease and following the tuition you will find that you drive naturally to this higher standard.

As part of the test you will be asked to carry out a range of reversing exercises. You will also be asked to carry out an emergency stop (sometimes known as a controlled stop). Again, our trainers will work with you to ensure you can confidently perform these manouvers every single time.

The main thing is to be relaxed and drive confidently. If you make a few mistakes don’t panic - even the best of us make mistakes. You are allowed up to six minor driving errors during the test so you aren't going to fail instantly unless you commit any serious or dangerous faults. Following the test, the examiner will let you know if you've passed and have a short chat about your driving on the test which will cover any areas that they feel you need to improve upon and also the good points.

Once you have successfully passed the ADI Part 2 test, you can move onto ADI Part 3.
